The forecast rain held off and a good time was had by all at the Schwenksville Vet Annual Open House on Saturday, May 2, 2009. The kids enjoyed bouncing in the bouncy house while our furry friends lapped up Bruster's doggie sundaes - vanilla ice cream garnished with a dog biscuit.
After the kids got their faces painted by Freckles the Clown, she created fantastic balloon animals – balloon dragonflies, dogs, fish on fishing poles, even swords for balloon duels. While the kids' crafts dried – pet bandanas embellished with puffy paint – we all enjoyed hot dogs and a delicious ice cream cone (no dog biscuit for us!).
We explored booths and learned more about how to get involved with the SPCA and cat rescue. Trappe Feed and Pet Supply was on hand with information and free pet food samples.
Sporting the Groomingdales "after" look.
Pet photographer Jim Indo displayed his photos – dramatic, fun, and evocative portraits of dogs and cats. Groomingdales, Collegeville groomers, staffed a booth and had satisfied "clients" there for pats.
We filled out raffle tickets for fun prizes donated by Pfizer, Merial, Hills, Iams, Schwenksville Vet and Zachary Photographic Gallery, and even got the grand tour of the facility.
After spending the afternoon meeting lots of really well-behaved pooches from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, our dog figured it was the best trip to the vet ever!
A very special thank you goes out to our event sponsors, Pfizer, Merial, Novartis, Iams and Hill's Pet Nutrition.
